| TITLE | Supreme Court Symposium: 20th Anniversary of the Judicial Assistant Officer System |

From April 24 to 25, 2025, the Supreme Court’s Symposium to mark the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the Judicial Assistant Officer System was held at the Nest Hotel in Incheon. The symposium was attended by prominent figures from within and outside the judiciary., including the Minister CHUN Daeyup of the National Court Administration, Members of the National Assembly Jang Dong-hyuk and Park Hee-seung, President Hong Dong-ki of the Association of Korean Civil Judgment Enforcement Law, and President Lee Kang-cheon of the Korean Association of Beommusa Lawyer (legal Scriveners), and others. Additionally, judicial assistant officers from courts nationwide, along with judges, lawyers, legal scriveners (Beommusa lawyer), and academics, participated to present and discuss various topics under the main theme of "20 Years of Achievements and Challenges of the Judicial Assistant Officer System." The court officials who contributed to the development of the Judicial Assistant Officer System received awards. In his congratulatory remarks, the Minister CHUN Daeyup of the National Court Administration underscored the substantial contributions made by judicial assistant officers across various court levels over the past two decades. He noted their pivotal role in enhancing public judicial services by efficiently and professionally managing non-litigious cases, such as compulsory enforcement, thereby enabling judges to dedicate their full attention to trials on the merits. He further stressed that, given the accelerating pace of social change, there is a growing public demand for the Judicial Assistant Officer System to undergo a qualitative and quantitative leap forward. He urged judicial assistant officers to continue to serve with pride and dedication in their roles to ensure the judiciary maintains people’s trust. This symposium is very meaningful in that it provides an opportunity for experts from various fields to gather, explore the achievements of the Judicial Assistant Officer System and its future directions, including the expansion of their work areas, and collectively discuss improvement measures for civil execution, all on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. The Supreme Court will make every effort to provide the necessary support and resources to refine the education and personnel management systems to strengthen the expertise of judicial assistant officers, ensuring the Judicial Assistant Officer System develops into a more mature one. Additionally, the Court will strive to improve the quality of judicial services provided to the public by judicial assistant officers. |
